Thermoseal Group is a finalist in the Component Supplier of the Year category in the G23 Awards, in recognition of its investment in infrastructure, sustainability, new products and export markets.

“We are excited about being shortlisted for this year’s awards,” said Sales Director Mark Hickox. “The G-Awards is a huge date in the diary, and just by being shortlisted is a great recognition of all the hard work we’ve done over the last year.

“One major focus for us has been the expected increase in demand for triple glazing. This is not something that can be turned on overnight, and requires detailed preparation by all parties up and down the supply chain. Not only have we invested in the latest equipment to supply spacer bars and accessories that meet triple glazing requirements, but we are also working closely with our customers to help them prepare for changes.”

Thermoseal Group now occupies an additional 50,000ft2 site in Wigan, where it has five Thermobar lines and two Thermoflex lines. Of these, three are new automated lines, accounting for £3 million of investment, with a further two additional Thermobar auto lines due in December.

The company has invested £240,000 in a new twin-strand Thermoflex extruder. Together, they will give it the capacity to produce greater volumes of different thicknesses of spacer bar, helping it to: meet increased demand for standard 20mm spacers; meet the needs of the triple-glazing market; and help grow its export sales.

A further £150,000 has been invested in new injection moulding equipment at both Thermoseal Group’s new Wigan site and its site in Birmingham. These produce a range of IGU components, including corner keys and Georgian bar fittings.

The company has also installed a Solar PV System, which now produces 420MW of electricity per year. This is used directly by the Thermobar and Thermoflex manufacturing process, and electric vehicle charging points have been installed at all sites so that employees and visitors can charge vehicles during working hours.

“Investment is ongoing at Thermoseal Group,” Mark said. “We are moving more of our operation over to a manufacture and supply model, rather than just supply, which gives us greater control over product quality and lead times.

“For us, this is what a leading component supplier looks like – a business that is prepared to invest in its operations, and work in partnership with customers so no-one is left behind, and everyone benefits.”

The winners of the G23 Awards will be announced at a gala dinner at the London Hilton on Park Lane on Friday 24 November.
