Suppliers, representatives of the authorities and members of the Corporate Management Committee attended the official opening of a further 1230 square meters of production space at Schott Guinchard in Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland.

New, ultramodern machines have already been installed and taken into operation at the facility. This move has increased the floor area by nearly 30 percent to 5430 square meters.

Schott Guinchard has been an 80 percent subsidiary of Schott since the end of 2000. The facility uses around 250 different optical glasses and other high quality optical materials such as sapphire to produce high-precision semi-finished products for industry. Since Guinchard moved to its premises in Yverdon in 1998 the number of employees has almost doubled, increasing from 70 to 130 people.
