SAKOR Technologies, Inc., a recognized leader in the area of engine and powertrain system testing, announces the VersaDyne, a completely integrated, turn-key system for testing small 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines. The VersaDyne is ideal for testing engines found in equipment such as small outboard motors, motorcycles, ORV’s, tractors, lawn care tools, and generators.

Available in sizes ranging from 5 to 30 kW, the VersaDyne features the versatility of a regenerative AC motoring dynamometer in a convertible, horizontal/vertical package. Utilizing modern Flux Vector technology, the VersaDyne’s AC motoring dynamometer offers precise speed and torque control over a very wide dynamic range. A single system is therefore capable of testing engines over a broad range of performance characteristics. Its power-efficient, regenerative design returns absorbed power to the plant mains, resulting in minimal heat rejection, and little or no need for external cooling. Its motoring capability provides for automatic engine starting as well as complete testing of transient engine loads.

The system’s unique horizontal/vertical design greatly enhances its versatility. In a matter of a few minutes, the VersaDyne can be converted between its horizontal and vertical orientations. All types of horizontal-shaft, and vertical-shaft engines can therefore be tested on the same system, eliminating the need for maintaining separate, redundant systems for each type of engine. This, in turn, greatly reduces facilities requirements and overall cost of ownership.

The heart of the VersaDyne system is the DynoLAB™ PT Engine Test Cell Controller. The DynoLAB PT provides fully automated test cycle control in a familiar Windows®-based environment.  It’s graphical “drag and drop” interface allows for creation of automated test cycles without the need for complex programming. Its modular, expandable I/O system provides complete data acquisition and control functionality in a single integrated package.
