Quanex Building Products has launched the Quanex Optimizer™ Special Edition, an update to its popular U-Factor application that enables users to quickly find configurations that meet ENERGY STAR® Version 6.0 requirements.

This latest update is one of many recent improvements to enhance the user experience in both the online and iPad® versions of the app.“If you haven’t checked out the Quanex Optimizer in the last six months, you are missing out on some major upgrades to help you get to the information you are seeking faster,” said Doug Hauck, senior tech service engineer for Quanex. “Our goal with this recent Special Edition update is to give customers a user-friendly tool to help them find the simplest, most cost-effective ways to improve performance and meet ENERGY STAR Version 6.0 requirements.”The Quanex Optimizer™ Special Edition update includes the ability to search for ENERGY STAR Version 6.0 qualifying configurations by zone, as well as other recent enhancements, including expanded search options, filters to help narrow results and the ability to download results to a spreadsheet.“Companies can see exactly what they need to do to their existing designs to meet ENERGY STAR criteria without sorting through endless pages of possibilities,” Hauck said. “It’s just one of many tools Quanex is offering to help manufacturers navigate the changes.”The Quanex Optimizer estimates U-factors, Visible Transmittance and Solar Heat Gain for more than 625,000 window and door configurations by mixing and matching a variety of framing materials, common North American IG spacers, glass packages, Low-e coatings and gas fills.The Quanex Optimizer is available online at www.quanexoptimizer.com or as an iPad® app through the iTunes® App Store.For more information on Quanex’s ENERGY STAR Version 6.0 tools for manufacturers, visit the company’s newly launched resource page at www.Quanex.com/EnergyStar.
