LAMILUX produces market’s first flat roof window with national technical approval featuring a “Structural Glazing” design.

LAMILUX is launching the world’s first flat roof window with national technical approval which features a “Structural Glazing” design and is certified by the German Institute for Construction Technology in Berlin (DIBt).

This means that the glass panes are attached to the supporting system without any visible fixtures. The resulting glass and frame unit makes the LAMILUX CI System Glass Element F100 not only visually attractive but also extremely resistant to wind loads.

The new Glass Element F100 “Structural Glazing” (SG) Design is a groundbreaking enhancement of the already successful flat roof window from the Upper Franconian daylight specialists. The fixtures of the glazing units cannot be seen from inside or outside – a common method used for glass facades which is now also possible for flat roof windows.

Thanks to the innovative bonding technology, the element can withstand high wind loads with ease. The SG edge bond makes it is possible to install the flat roof window in coastal regions in buildings up to 25 metres high which are subjected to high prevailing wind loads.

An attractive all-rounder

Continuous, even water drainage from the element is also guaranteed which prevents the unsightly build-up of dirt around the edges or accumulation of rainwater. Instead, the running water removes any dust and dirt from the panes.

In addition, the jointless, thermal bridge-free upstand made of fibre reinforced composite achieves the highest energy efficiency and heat insulation levels. The CI System Glass Element F100 has optimised, measurable isothermal lines throughout its entire design which prevent condensation from forming on the inside of the upstand and glazing.

The daylight element is suitable for installation on flat roofs of residential buildings, as the ventilated version features a flap system which can be conveniently opened via remote control. This allows for seamless control of natural ventilation. The flat roof window is also available with optional smoke and heat exhaust ventilation functionality which is tested according to EN DIN 12101-2 for use in industrial or administrative buildings.
