Guardian adds six new glass colors to its SunGuard® product line

Date: 14 April 2008

Auburn Hills, Mich., April 3, 2008 -- Guardian has added six new glass colors to its growing line of low-emissivity SunGuard® Advanced Architectural Glass products.

SunGuard AG 50 and SunGuard Royal Blue 40 are each available on three different float glass substrates for a variety of appearance options along with dramatic energy savings that meet or exceed local and regional energy codes, and help projects earn LEED points.

SunGuard AG 50 is a low-E coating with just enough reflectivity to provide a crisp, uniform appearance. AG 50 now comes in light silver, silver gray and green. The coating is spectrally selective, allowing high amounts of visible light into a building while minimizing solar heat gain. AG 50 is a great coating to consider as well when matching spandrel glass is desired.

SunGuard Royal Blue 40 is an industry first because it combines low-E performance with a blue appearance but does it without the cost, heat absorption and bluish transmitted light of coatings on blue float glass. Royal Blue 40 comes in three shades — royal blue, blue gray and aquamarine — and all do a terrific job of blocking solar heat gain. Unlike coatings on blue float glass, SunGuard Royal Blue 40 on clear glass gives light inside the building a more neutral appearance. It’s a completely new look to high performance glass.

“As with all Guardian SunGuard Advanced Architectural Glass solutions, we’re confident that AG 50 and Royal Blue 40 will provide architects and other specifiers new ways to Build With Light™ while meeting the most demanding cost and energy performance requirements,” said Chris Dolan, director of Guardian’s commercial glass segment.

Both AG 50 and Royal Blue 40 are available with shorter lead times from independent SunGuard Select™ Fabricators throughout North America.
