Around 30 social housing specifiers and maintenance personnel from across Scotland took the opportunity to boost their glazing knowledge at an exclusive technical seminar arranged by CMS Window Systems in conjunction with GLASSOLUTIONS.

The two companies joined forces to deliver the second in the series of CMS Technical Masterclass Seminars which are designed to bring housing specifiers up to speed with the latest building envelope solutions. The seminar was held at the CMS Innovation Hub, a state of the art educational and training facility at which GLASSOLUTIONS has a permanent exhibition.

Introduced by marketing director Mike Butterick, the seminar featured a full ‘back to basics’ tutorial by technical manager Gareth East and marketing manager Adam Taylor. This covered what makes a high quality sealed unit and guidance on how to deploy the latest glass types to meet challenges such as ‘zero carbon’ standards of thermal insulation, solar control to minimise overheating risk and enhanced noise insulation. The session concluded with an update on the emerging glass technologies which have the potential to transform homes and commercial buildings, with Saint-Gobain’s electronically tintable SageGlass® taking centre stage presented by Jeff Upton.

Andy Kerr, MD of CMS Window Systems said: “Bringing the technical knowledge of one of the world’s top glass manufacturers directly to our customers in this format is something we’re extremely pleased to be able to do – and our Innovation Hub is the perfect place to do it.

“With such a high attendance at this latest masterclass, it is clear that housing specifiers, managers and maintenance personnel are keen to explore how to get the most out of today’s technically advanced glass products. We’ll be helping them implement these in the most effective way, using our window and door systems knowledge to deliver the best specifications to suit every application.”

The ‘Unlocking glazing’s potential’ seminar was the second in the series of events in the CMS Technical Masterclass Programme which is running throughout 2015 to provide authoritative professional training to those responsible for social housing development, refurbishment and maintenance.

GLASSOLUTIONS will also be running additional seminars during 2015 to highlight to CMS customers the benefits of the latest acoustic glazing options and to introduce the unrivalled closed-loop recycling process being implemented over the coming months.
