Glass America TV Segment Airs on Fox Business Channel July 11

Date: 12 July 2010

CHICAGO, July 9, 2010 – Glass America will be featured on the Fox Business Channel nationwide on July 11.

The video segment, “Proper Windshield Installation and Repair,” is part of an educational television series, the “Insider’s Guide to Automobile Safety.”Glass America is one of the largest independently-owned automobile glass replacement and repair companies in the country.  Glass America produced the video segment to spread awareness to the driving public about the importance of a vehicle’s windshield, one of the most important, and often overlooked safety devices in our cars.  The piece features a demonstration of proper windshield installation, and educates viewers about the important questions to ask before having your windshield replaced or repaired. The five-minute television segment was filmed on location at a Glass America service center in Atlanta.  The video includes an interview with David Rohlfing, President and CEO of Glass America and Vice President of AGRSS, the Auto Glass Replacement Safety Standards.  The video also features Joel Timmons from Profitable Glass Solutions in Dayton, Ohio who is a board member for AGRSS.  Jon Fransway from Eden Prairie, Minnesota tells the story of his late sister, Jeanne Fransway of Wisconsin, who died in a rollover accident due to the windshield in her car popping out.  The Fransway story is a tragic example of the consequences of an improperly installed windshield.“The windshield is an integral part of the vehicle’s occupant crash protection system and helps keep passengers inside the vehicle during a collision.Your windshield is classified as a safety device because it works in conjunction with the seats, seatbelts and airbags to protect you in an accident. The windshield also provides structural support to the vehicles roof in a rollover accident and acts as a backboard when the passenger side airbag deploys,” says Rohlfing.  “The quality of the glass, the installation adhesive, and an auto glass technician’s training are all integral components to ensure a safe auto glass installation.”

The Glass America segment will air July 11 at 4 p.m. EST, 3 p.m. CST, 2 p.m. MST, and 1 p.m. PST. Visit www.foxbusiness.com/channel_finder.html for local channel listings. To learn more about auto glass safety and Glass America, go to www.glassusa.com.
