TOTAL AUTOMATION as we like to call it.
Glass is fed directly in to the arrissing line by the breakout operator, in exactly the sequence that comes from their optimisation. So no changes there except that the operator does not have to manhandle any glass in to racks, he just slides each one across from the breakout table on to the arrisser.
During arrissing each glass is automatically measured, arranged into batches, and fed in to the washer and furnace without any manual intervention.Compared to traditional manual systems, or even factories that use a stand-alone vertical arrissing machine, the ASHTON system saves at least two, usually three people … per shift. In a recent costing exercise for a UK client, who operates a two-shift business, this is what e found. The equipment cost in round figures is GBP 320,000 including delivery and installation. A leading UK lease finance company is offering them a 4% per annum flat rate deal over a 5 year period. In simple numbers, that means around GBP 380,000 will be repaid over 5 years, or in other words GBP 75,000 a year.
The IMMEDIATE yearly saving on labour costs for the company, even based on saving just two operators per shift, i.e. 4 salaries including employer’s contributions, is around GBP 100,000
So right from the very start savings outweigh the lease purchase instalments!
IT’S A FACT – THE EQUIPMENT REALLY IS EFFECTIVELY FREE OF CHARGE !
