Date: 18 October 2018

EPPA and its partners the RAL Gütegemeinschaft Kunststoff-Fensterprofilsysteme (GKFP) und VinylPlus® informed visitors of the exhibitions about their activities.

Common Audits as Part of the European Cooperation

During a “quality conference” the GKFP explained to the industry how quality assurance could work on a European level. Hubert Lagier (Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment, FR), Bernhard Elias (GKFP, DE) and Arjen van der Drift (Kiwa, NL) explained the Triple-Audit which is part of RAL-GZ 716, QB 34 (previously NF 126) and KOMO since 2018.

The advantages are obvious as explained by Elias: ‘We could reduce the amount of audits from six to two, system houses only need to prepare for one auditor who furthermore is using a standardised checklist. This increases the efficiency for the auditors and the profile manufacturers’.

Quality and Environment – Added Value for Manufacturers and Consumers

Further news and prospects have been communicated during the Prowindo press conference. EPPA forms part of this alliance for PVC windows. Gerald Feigenbutz underlined the further development of communication policy: ‘We address our target groups with different products. Hence, technical guidance documents help window manufacturers with questions on profile systems and their processing. Guidebooks such as “Windows for Life” support experienced house builders with all necessary information when choosing and buying PVC windows’.

Via its website and newsletter, EPPA informs its members about all relevant developments in politics, economics and society. The latter are supplemented by association-oriented studies and documents.

Using Sustainability Marks as a Competitive Advantage

For those interested in more information about sustainability marks, a visit of the FRONTALE FORUM has paid. Here Stefan Eingärtner (VinylPlus) presented the VinylPlus Product Label. During his presentation he explained the added value of the label: ‘The demand by the end consumer for sustainable products is on the raise. The label helps identifying sustainability on first sight. For window manufacturers, on the other hand, competitive advantages can be obtained if selling profile systems carrying a sustainability mark’.

Getting ready for the FENSTERBAU 2020

To be equipped with an attractive program for 2020, EPPA will increase its presence in the FORUM, and sharpen the FENSTERBAU FRONTALE’s profile as the leading European exhibition on windows. For this purpose the Forum constitutes an excellent platform.

It is planned to organize a half day event with European partners. This should provide visitors of the fair with the opportunity to listen to interesting presentations on technology, quality and European quality assurance, sustainability, regulatory and consumer affairs.
