Clearly the best performing glass

Date: 4 December 2012

Saint-Gobain Glass has launched SGG COOL-LITE XTREME – an extremely selective solar control glass.SGG COOL-LITE XTREME is the UK’s first triple-silver solar control glass, giving it a selectivity of 2.14 – this is the ratio of visible light against solar gains.

In this case, SGG COOL-LITE XTREME has a solar factor of just 28%, while still letting in a phenomenal 60% of visible light.

It has been designed for the high end building market where specifiers demand the very best light transmission, while still preventing overheating. Buildings which would benefit from this high level of solar control include: office buildings, shopping malls, industrial buildings, hotels, restaurants, schools and hospitals. It can be used in either facade glazing or skylights.

Specifiers are particularly won over by SGG COOL-LITE XTREME’s low visible reflection, which reinforces the perception of transparency and provides undisturbed views.

The very high level of transparency offers maximum natural daylight, improves well-being and makes the working environment more pleasant. The 60% transmitted light saves energy because it cuts down on the need for artificial lighting, while the 28% solar factor reduces the pressure air conditioning systems.

Saint-Gobain Glass believes that SGG COOL-LITE XTREME is the best performing glass of its kind on the market, and that its manufacture is only possible because of the importance that is placed by Saint-Gobain on research and development of market leading technologies. “The Building Regulations are constantly being amended, and specifiers are continuously searching for better performing products,” explained Mark Harrison, Saint-Gobain’s Commercial Market Manager. “Thanks to our expertise in magnetron coating, we can constantly adapt and improve our products to meet market demand and create exciting new products which constantly push the boundaries of what is thought possible.”
