Callahan had been acting in the CEO position since June 2015 while serving concurrently as the organization’s Chief Operating Officer. “After thoughtful and deliberate consideration, we are delighted that Deb will lead NFRC as we refine our existing programs and look confidently toward the future,” said Board Chair, Jeff Baker.Baker added that Callahan has been instrumental in NFRC’s evolution during her 10 years of service and said her passion, perseverance, and insight will keep the organization focused and moving forward."I am honored by the confidence the Board has placed in me and grateful for the opportunity to lead this exceptional organization of creative, dedicated and talented professionals,” Callahan said. “I am also committed to empowering our staff to tap new opportunities and to increasing the value we provide for all our stakeholders.” Callahan plans to accomplish this in part by implementing a strategic approach to building alliances with like-minded organizations to realize her vision for expanding the adoption of NFRC’s ratings programs.
Her plans for creating the NFRC of tomorrow include capitalizing on the emerging opportunities resulting from the escalating interest in green building. In fact, one of the items near the top of her agenda involves helping design-build professionals and the public more fully appreciate the vital role NFRC’s work plays in contributing to improved energy efficiency in the nation’s homes and commercial buildings.
Callahan brings 25 of experience in association management to the CEO position and holds a BA from Wells College and an MA from George Mason University, both in history. She is also a Certified Professional Mediator through the American Center for Conflict Resolution Institute. Additionally, Callahan holds human resources certifications through the Society for Human Resource Management and Villanova University. She is also a Certified Association Executive.
Baker said Callahan’s thorough understanding of NFRC’s stakeholders positions her to build a dynamic culture, create strategic partnerships, successfully direct the organization’s growth, and chart its course to achieving new milestones.
“I can think of no one better to lead NFRC into the future,” Baker concluded. “Deb has insight and strategic vision that will keep our momentum going strong and make our mission a reality.”
