Belron Takes Steps to Re-enter U.S. Market

Worldwide auto glass replacement (AGR) behemoth Belron is moving to re-enter the United States AGR business.

Belron, a former owner of Safelite Auto Glass, currently owns AGR companies in many countries throughout the world.According to well-placed sources, Belron discussed acquisition with at least four U.S. companies.Harmon Auto Glass, which is owned by Apogee Enterprises, and one mid-size auto glass replacement company based in the Midwest, are reportedly among those who have had such discussions. In one case, the deal was believed to be close to complete when Belron decided to back away.

“They are mindful of what happened with the Globe acquisition,” said the source, “and are still struggling with what form to take here.”
