Most importantly, the International trade show specialized in machinery, equipment and systems for flat, bent and hollow glass and in glass and processed products for industry, posted a significant increase in international visitors who were pleased with the new organization and the innovations displayed. This result further strengthens the positive trend posted by the industry during the first six months of 2007.
Fiera Milano’s new spectacular setting in Rho, the large spaces – 4 pavilions for 4 different sections – the new organization and the new “Vetroconcetti” exhibition helped contribute to the success of Vitrum 2007.
The 31,560 square meters (+ 10.5% versus 2005) surface area was divided into 23,954 sq.m for Italian exhibitors and 7,606 sq.m for overseas attendees.
Visitor attendance figures confirmed the initial forecasts: 17,097 first entrances (+ 6.74% over 2005), of these 10,521 were Italians (+ 4.14% over 2005) and 6,576 from other countries (+11.17 over 2005). These figures become all the more significant when considering Vitrum’s performance since its inception in 1979.
Exhibitor numbers were also up and the 581 exhibitors (+ 32.65% over 2005), of which 308 from Italy and 273 foreigners (from 28 countries), were an exceptional record for the exhibition. The profile of the exhibiting companies was particularly outstanding: 83% of these are manufacturers; this demonstrates that Vitrum has become one of the most authoritative and reliable exhibitions worldwide.
Another significant contribution to the success of the show came from two product sections -- VHG and VTE –attracting the presence of other companies, especially from overseas, for whom Vitrum was a fundamental meeting point for highly qualified business deals. VHG and VTE also offered a conference program and gave a specific identity to the hollow and processed glass sector through the vacuum and coating technologies.
The final analysis of Vitrum 2007 generated an important comment by Renata Gaffo – the director of the exhibition – who said “Vitrum 2007 clearly brings out the characteristics of the magical world of glass which, despite economic downturns, rising petrol prices and the incredible Euro/US$ exchange rate, has an untiring vitality. Companies are constantly traveling around the world spurred by their curiosity to see and to meet each other. Vitrum 2007 is one of the driving forces of the extraordinary liveliness of this sector”.
This vitality can be seen in the many bookings that have been received for 2009, from 28 to 31 October, once again at Fiera Milano’s complex in Rho.
