Year over year consolidated sales rose 13.4 percent and EBITDA increased 9.9 percent. Consolidated EBITDA margins of 13.0 percent for the quarter reflect a slight decline of 0.4 percentage points. Excluding divestitures of Plasticos Bosco (Bosco) in April 2005 and Quimica M in March 2006, consolidated sales rose 16.6 percent and consolidated EBITDA increased 13.0 percent during the same period.
Alvaro Rodriguez, Chief Financial Officer, commented: "We are very pleased with the strong first quarter performance. The positive results in both business units, despite the continuing impact of energy costs, are further signs of the positive trend that Vitro is achieving."
