As Business Area Manager of the Primo Gasket Competence Centre, Rachid Koulij works closely with customers in Benelux and Scandinavia.

Rachid Koulij is the Business Area Manager in Scandinavia and Benelux of the Primo Gasket Competence Centre in Hamburg and has been living and working in Germany for many years. As a Danish citizen by birth, however, it was not a given thing that it should turn out this way.

"But as I took an internationally oriented education and since specialized in export, it seemed like a logical choice to choose an international career," he adds.

Rachid Koulij is a Constructing Architect by education and has always been interested in the elements that constitute a building. After a couple of years in German companies, he opted for a position at Primo, where he started in 2015.

"Primo is an internationally oriented company with strong customer cases across the globe and a reputation for reliability, experience, and high quality. But at heart, it is still very much a Danish company, which is evident – amongst other qualities – in the informal but efficient, credible, and innovative corporate culture," he explains.

Today, he is specialized in gaskets that represent an essential part of a building's shield against the environment. Without gaskets, it would be virtually impossible to insulate properly or to seal windows and doors against rain and moisture.

"We work very closely with our customers, primarily companies that produce doors and windows. My goal is to maintain a fruitful dialogue about our products with existing and potential customers in Scandinavia and Benelux. I am also committed to making sure that we have precisely the gaskets our customers need to develop their products," Rachid Koulij adds.

That this effort is of strategic importance is evident in the establishment of the Primo Gasket Competence Centre in itself. The goal is to consolidate the development-, production- and sales effort – and to align the product portfolio with the changing needs of the construction industry.

"For instance, sustainability and the option to recycle building materials are more crucial than ever. With the Gasket Competence Centre, we are well-positioned to develop and produce innovative gaskets that live up to these expectations," says Rachid Koulij.

These days, Rachid Koulij works closely with the rest of the Primo gasket team to make sure that Primo is strongly represented at Fenterbau Frontale – a world-leading trade show for windows, doors and facades that takes place on 18 - 21 March 2020 in Nuremberg, Germany.
