Young boxers at the successful Chelmsley Wood ABC in Birmingham can reflect on their success in a series of sparkling new mirrors, thanks to Pilkington. The Birmingham downstream branch donated the sheets of 4mm safety backed Pilkington Optimirror™ Protect to help with a refurbishment at the gym.

Day loading foreman John Lennon, has a 15-year-old son, Tom, who trains there and he passed on the request for help.

"The gym has produced a string of young champions and does a lot of good work with youngsters in the area," said general manager Simon Philpott. "We like to give something back to the local community and were happy to help out with their refurb."

Chelmsley Wood had three youngsters - PJ Cawley, Joe Costello and Jordan Clayton - in this year's Junior ABA finals, held in Liverpool, with PJ winning through to take the title. Previous winners include Ricky Hatton, Amir Khan, Naseem Hamed and Joe Calzaghe.

Joe Costello was the youngest ever European Schoolboy Champion at the age of 14 and is earmarked for the 2012 Olympics.
