The project, which has been launched this month to coincide with 30,000 visitors descending on Liverpool for the International Festival of Business, celebrates some of the region’s most influential business people in a unique photography exhibition. It is designed to inspire the business leaders of tomorrow and includes esteemed figures such as Sir Terry Leahy, former CEO of Tesco, and Ian Ayre, CEO of Liverpool Football Club.
Buckley joined Pilkington in 1987 as a graduate trainee and has since worked his way up to become managing director of the company’s UK architectural business, with responsibility for more than 1,200 employees across 14 sites in the UK.
Speaking about his role, he said: “I’ve been with Pilkington for the whole of my working life and can honestly say that I’m still as passionate about my job and the company as I was back in 1987. The brand has been an integral part of Merseyside for many years and it’s important that we continue to build this further, working closely with the people who are at the heart of our business and continuing to enhance the service we deliver to clients. To be included in this exhibition certainly wasn’t something I expected, but it’s a pleasure and a privilege!”
Beyond the Desk uses unique portraiture to break the traditional stereotypes associated with business leaders, aiming to bridge the gap between established leaders, aspiring entrepreneurs and young people entering the world of business.
It will be exhibited from 17th June to 5th July in Liverpool ONE and outside Liverpool Lime Street Station.
