Passivhaus Awards winners: all 6 use SWISSPACER

Date: 20 May 2015

All six winners of the Passivhaus Component Award 2015 used SWISSPACER inside their windows. The awards were presented at the International Passivhaus Conference 2015 on April 17th in Leipzig, Germany.

The Passivhaus Institute is the world’s leading fabric-first approach to low energy buildings and the diamond standard for energy efficiency. The main challenge of this year’s competition was for products to show a degree of flexibility, since refurbishments are often carried out over different periods of time due to lack of money. At times there could be a gap of up to 10 years between the first part of a refurbishment and the next. The best windows had to deliver excellent results during this time gap and following the complete refurbishment.

SWISSPACER Ultimate was the first warm edge spacer bar to be awarded a ‘Passivhaus approved’ certificate at the first-ever Passivhaus Component Awards last year. Now, nearly 80% of all Passivhaus windows have SWISSPACER inside.

Karl-Theo Roes, SWISSPACER Market and Development Manager, says: “It was great to attend the Passivhaus Component Awards a year after our own success. We were a main sponsor at this year’s awards and it was very exciting to find out that all six winners had relied on SWISSPACER!

“Our warm edge spacer bars are tried and tested to achieve the best thermal performance. Uniquely, they come in a range of 17 different colours and give long lasting performance.”
