Driven by the trend for transitional indoor-outdoor living, aluminium systems specialist Sapa has launched its high-end sliding door – the C160S.

Belonging to an entirely new generation of sliding systems, this energy efficient door combines a great aesthetic with high thermal performance - ideal for urban apartments and traditional homes alike.

Achieve better energy efficiency

Reflecting increasing product performance requirements within building regulations, the C160S delivers the thermal values required for tomorrow’s residential needs, today.

Energy performance is designed into the heart of the lift and slide door system coupling profiles with 50mm glass fibre reinforced polyamide strips to reduce thermal conduction.

Further improvements to thermal performance, if required, can be achieved by the use of customised thermal barrier elements within the profile cavities of the door and frame.

Frame exceptional views with large glass panels

The improved thermal performance does not compromise the system’s strength. Capable of glazing areas up to 2.8m high, its range of track configurations provide multiple opening and fixed glaze options.

Acoustic needs are also well catered for with glazing depths of up to 53mm making it ideally suited for environments where external noise might be problematic. Utilising stainless steel rails and polyamide rollers ensures the lift and slide system provides a light touch and ease of operation on even the largest of doors.

Integrate interior and exterior design effortlessly

Design and style within residential apartments and houses play a key role. The C160S design allows for dual colour options meaning exterior building requirements need not affect interior design choices.

With over 400 powder coated paint colours available in matt, gloss or satin and an optional anodised finish, accessories can also be supplied in corresponding colours to match the profiles for a coordinated look.

Designed with attention to detail

Real attention has been paid to both finishing details and building integration; for example, integration of the frame into the building structure renders the outer frame near invisible, maximising the available light while allowing a flush finish to the internal floor.

Where such integration is not possible a range of standard and low threshold options are available. The C160S also features an ingenious reverse locking principle, with elegant locking plates on the frame side, eliminating unattractive and protruding locking bolts whilst protecting the operator from risk of snagging.

Excellent weather performance

Featuring integrated sealing with two levels of drainage for efficient water evacuation and EPDM gaskets throughout the lift-slide door ensures water and draft free closure, whatever it faces.

Dependent upon configuration, the C160S achieves impressive weather performance; 600 Pa for air permeability (EN 12207), 900 Pa for water tightness (EN 12208) and 1800Pa for wind resistance (EN 12210).

Commenting on the launch of the new door system, Sapa’s Market Manager James Wilson said: “Trends in increased daylighting require larger glass sizes and weights; however, when these are applied to sliding doors the system strength and ease of operation are critical. Our C160S offers specifiers and homeowners a highly attractive aesthetic line, exceptional performance and remarkable ease of use. Recent C160S developments means we are now ideally placed to advise on optimised large sliding glazed solutions and we would urge customers to contact us for any specification support required.”
