Into a building, whose facade virtually spells this colour – with printed glass made in Wernberg-Köblitz.
The so-called “Entertainment House” or “Creative House” is located right at the entrance to Hamburg’s legendary street “Große Freiheit”. Back when the Beatles were still a bunch of unknown boys they used to play here for nights on end, dreaming of who-knows-what. Those times are long gone. What is left, however, is the Kiez’s repute for eccentricity. The area is still a tank for ideas, whose protagonists either make it big or suffer shipwreck.
The AIDA building will be a creative tank as well. The whole entertainment programme for all of AIDA’s cruise fleet will be developed here – and will be thoroughly studied and rehearsed on the house’s four stages.
It is FLACHGLAS Wernberg who is responsible for the many shades of red that make the building’s facade a remarkable sight within the rows of houses. The facade was designed by Renner Hainke Wirth architects who are based in Hamburg. Right from the start builder August Prien put high emphasis on excellent quality in all aspects of the building’s construction. In the process of sample inspection we provided competent advice – not only as far as our expertise in foil printing was concerned. The crucial aspect of the job was that 500 glass elements in 500 different designs had to be produced and delivered in exactly that sequence that had been defined beforehand.
Our client was rather pleased by our weekly reports on production and delivery statuses. And he was delighted that we delivered even quicker than we had agreed upon. We, in turn, thought it was really exciting to house a holiday dream factory behind bright red glass – amidst an area where nights are brimming with plans and desires. Indeed, it’s a dream job we’ve got.
