In the sample piece below, mirror glass is used as one of the glass sheets so that when the glass is switched to its “on” state a reflective surface is revealed.
How does this work?
When the electrical supply is switched “on”, the liquid crystal molecules align and incident light passes through and the LC SmartGlass panel allowing it to instantly clear rervealing the reflective mirror glass. When the power is switched “off” the liquid crystal molecules are randomly oriented scattering light and the LC SmartGlass becomes opaque (private).
