The participation of Onyx Solar at Glasstec 2014, which was held in Germany this October, helped the company strengthening its international distributorship network with the incorporation of new distributors in Germany and Greece.Additionally, the event was used to launch for the first time anew spider fixing system for photovoltaic façades which avoids penetrating the outer pane of double glazing and triple glazing units, so that the aesthetics of the constructive solution are enhanced.
During the same event, Onyx Solar was invited to offer a speech at the International Engineered Transparency Conference, focusing on its innovative and successful photovoltaic floor tile, which has already received several awards in different countries.
On another hand and at the same time, Onyx Solar exhibited for a fifth year in a row at Greenbuild Expo in New Orleans, USA, the major event for green construction in the Americas. Being it the only glass in the market able to generate free electricity from the Sun, Onyx Solar solutions caught the attention of the major representatives of different Green Building Councils worldwide (GBC), and major architecture and design firms. Particularly, the GBCs are non for profit organizations which promote sustainability in construction among 100 countries over the 5 continents. By 2015, an estimated 40-48% of new nonresidential construction by value will be green, equating to a $120-145 billion dollars opportunity. These organizations promote the LEED certification, which is an international rating system that certifies buildings which incorporate sustainable designs and energy efficient measures of different kinds. By using Onyx Solar photovoltaic Glass, buildings can score LEED points to help achieving that certification. For further details, please take a look at the following document. This is a great milestone, as of October 2014, approximately 44% of all square footage pursuing LEED certification existed outside the U.S.
Finally, Onyx Solar also wanted to participate at the first edition of Green Building Expo in Dominican Republic together with the World Architectural Festival (WAF) in Singapore. The photovoltaic Glass by Onyx Solar was first introduced in both countries to major industry players such as construction companies, engineers, architects and developers. During both events, where Onyx Solar participated with a booth displaying real photovoltaic glass samples, a speech was offered to all attendants to explain the main advantages that the photovoltaic Glass brings to any construction project, such as thermal and sound insulation, or the generation of free electricity from the Sun.
