GPS becomes independent

Date: 28 October 2015

GPS as international supplier of IS-Machines, Spare parts and Services becomes independent: Effective January 1st, 2016, Rolf Themann – current General Manager of GPS – is taking over the responsibility of the medium-sized company via Management-Buy-Out.

He was able to convince high performance and long-term-oriented private investors with business background.„We would like to take the opportunity as medium-sized German engineering company to respond independently to the challenges of the market“, explains Rolf Themann. This implies both: change and continuity. The name GPS as well as „Made in Germany“ together with the location in Essen will be kept unchanged. The strategic business focus established in 2013 remains stable on IS-Machines, Spare parts and Services.

The switch from the Saint-Gobain group to a medium-sized, owner-managed engineering company allows us, as experts of GPS, to build our future more intensively focused on our core strengths as before, to act with more flexibility and to develop innovations as well as to enter and to extend our business with the aim of being closer to our customers.

GPS will therefore remain a strong partner of the container glass industry – with over 90 years’ experience in the IS-Machines and services sector – with experts, who understand its specific market requirements – with user-friendly innovations relating to the container glass production.
