But this is not possible, so we must accept what life has to offer. Dino Fenzi, our President, and Honorary President of Gimav, is no longer with us. We will surely miss his “institutional” presence, because he was the light of ‘officialdom’ for an event like Vitrum which, over the years, has become the leading European trade show, in alternate years with Glasstec. For more than 30 years now, this trade fair has drawn exhibitors and visitors from around the world, offering the utmost exposure to Italian products, while also actively promoting activities complementary to Gimav. But what we will miss more than anything are his charisma and his ability to envision possibilities above and beyond the present moment. Glimpsing unexplored solutions and new directions for development, or nimble exits from difficult situations, like the current recession, was his trademark talent. There is a reason why his was one of the most sought-after voices of the day. Faced with a tough situation, the journalist knew he could get himself out of trouble by interviewing Mr. Fenzi, a reliably brilliant analyst, willing to reveal hidden truths, or those (often) too obvious to be seen. The many people who were fortunate to know him and spend time with him are well aware there was never any risk of boredom; he was famous for reveling in the unexpected. Firm, sometimes stubborn, but always a gentleman. Goodbye Mr. Fenzi, and thank you.
The Vitrum adventure continues under a new President whom we are pleased to welcome.
Board member of an illustrious Italian firm like Bottero, Aldo Faccenda steps into a difficult office. One that comes with responsibilities as well as honors, to guide the Vitrum ship toward a new season. The opening of Vitrum 2015 is at hand and preparations are already in full swing. Locked in a battle against time, Milan is a beehive of activity, with Expo 2015 on the horizon -- an amazing opportunity to add visibility to a trade fair that many are counting on to end the year on a positive note and, hopefully, bring a strong resurgence of the economy. With Vitrum 2015 we will do our best to honor the memory of the President who founded the event and has been at its helm until now.
