Global Glass, the specialist IGU division of Synseal Group, has been named Glass Company of the Year at the G17 Awards.

The award was independently judged by the Glass and Glazing Federation’s Technical Officer, Richard Kells, who cited quality and growth as the key reasons the Global Glass entry stood out.

Richard said:

For their commitment to growth, achievements in the areas of product quality and creating an impressive collaborative working culture within the factory at Witham, Global Glass have been judged the winners in the category of Glass Company of the Year.

During a visit to their newest factory, acquired just under a year ago from Village Glass, Richard was shown some of the changes implemented at Global Glass Essex to help improve quality and service.

These include bespoke labelling systems for larger customers, giving them more control over their supply chain, and an improved barcoding system with iconographic labels, making it quicker for customers to group their items into particular jobs.

Derren Gittins, Glass Managing Director (Global Glass), who collected the award on the night, said:

We were delighted to take home the Glass Company of the Year accolade at the G17 Awards. It’s a real testament to all of the hard work of our staff across Global Glass and the wider Synseal Group who have been involved in a number of collaborative working projects to drive quality standards and efficiencies in our four glass plants.

There are still a lot of things in the pipeline we want to accomplish, but it’s great that the GGF have recognised the achievements we have made so far as part of our continuous improvement programme, which have enabled us to grow our weekly unit volumes from 25,000 to 40,000 and recruit more than 60 new staff members over the last six months.

Our ambition is to become the benchmark for all other glass companies to aspire too. Winning this award is a step in the right direction to achieving that goal, and I’m very grateful for the dedication of our staff, support of our suppliers and loyalty of our customers in helping us get this far. We look forward to building on this reputation in the years to come to deliver an even better service to our 360+ customers.
