One of five gardens run by RHS, Wisley is the second most visited paid entry garden in the United Kingdom after the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. As part of the ongoing development of this stunning space, GG Glass was appointed by The Alan Nutall Partnership to deliver glazing works at the new Oak Framed Alpine Houses and The Potting Shed.
An unusual commission for the GG Glass team, the install was undertaken to a tight schedule over a number of months, whilst this area within the expansive garden site was closed to the public.
Under a £17,000 contract, 13.5mm clear toughened and laminated safety glass was specified with a 12mm clear toughened glass door and powder coated aluminium sashwork.
Nick Dunn, Branch Manager at GG Glass commented: “This project was undoubtedly different to our usual contracting work! RHS Wisley is a fantastic space with stunning gardens that are continually evolving. The Alpine Houses and Laboratory /Potting shed are the next step in the development of the site and it was great to be involved in Wisley’s continuing journey.”
He added: “This was very much a live environment so we took great care and planning to ensure all works where delivered as quickly and efficiently as possible. We had fantastic feedback from our client, the Alan Nutall partnership, as well as the end user, who praised our team for their expert delivery.”
