Winlock Security, the UK’s only window handle manufacturer, has launched an innovative new service for their UK customers; a free Document Q accreditation system.   This provision allows fabricators and installers to use Winlock’s test reports free of charge with immediate effect.

Document Q refers to an appendix to The Building Regulations which comes fully into effect from October 1st 2016.

It requires that all ground floor or accessible doors and windows on new build residential dwellings are made to a design that has been independently tested to the latest security standard (PAS024).

The impact of this new regulation for fabricators, is that they must have independent testing for their doors and windows – a process that can take up to 12 months - in place by October 1st 2016, in order for them to continue to supply the new build market.

With many fabricators only just realising the effect Document Q will have on their business, Winlock Security provides a simple solution.

Having anticipated this issue 12 months ago, Winlock Security began their own programme of rigorous independent testing in conjunction with key partners GU, Kenrick, Yale and Imperial on many of the UK’s most popular PVC and composite systems. The testing programme covers outward opening casements, single doors, French doors, composite doors and flush sash windows. Profiles covered to date include; Veka/Halo, Liniar, Deceuninck, Synseal, Eurocell, Swish and the new Profile 22 Optima system.

Winlock Security are now making this UKAS accredited test data available to fabricators free of charge, allowing them to continue serving the new build market without further investment or delay.

Said Winlock Security MD Alan Parker “We foresaw that many trade fabricators couldn’t justify the cost of having their own Document Q certification. We wanted to make available to them high quality, cost effective PAS024 solutions across a broad range of popular profile systems. This has been a major investment for Winlock, but one we believe will benefit many of our customers”.

Winlock Security Document Q Accreditation Summary:

• Provides customers with a Document Q compliant product without having to go through the time and expense of independent testing.

• Allows customers to continue to service the residential new build market without additional cost.

• Puts customers ahead of the competition.

Winlock Security Ltd’s Document Q provision reflects their innovative solution ethos.
