Viracon’s Statesboro, GA Facility To Re-Open in August

Date: 8 August 2012

Upgrades Maintain Facility’s State-of-the-Art Glass Fabrication Capabilities Owatonna, MN – Viracon, the nation’s leading single-source architectural glass fabricator, will re-open its Statesboro, GA manufacturing facility next week.

Employees will return to work and production will resume on August 13th. For the past six months, Viracon has spent $6 million refurbishing the facility’s equipment and infrastructure to ensure it maintains cutting-edge performance for the next construction up-cycle.

"We are very pleased to welcome our Statesboro team back to work," says Viracon President Kelly Schuller. "Our investments in the Statesboro facility strengthen our manufacturing environment and will enable our production teams to deliver the highest levels of customer service from our Statesboro factory. We are fortunate and thankful to have a loyal team of employees that are ready to return to work and make the most of these improvements for our customers."

The renovation of the Statesboro facility included 16 specific capital upgrades, and all major pieces of equipment received extensive maintenance. Most notably, the coating process was streamlined to improve its performance, capability and reliability.

The building’s roof was also replaced and the HVAC system was updated to yield a more controlled environment, resulting in a cleaner facility. Additionally, approximately 90 skylights have been installed to enhance natural lighting in specific areas of the factory, and to reduce energy usage during the day.

"With the upgrade of the Statesboro facility, I think we’re going to discover a new level of success," says Rick Farmer, Plant Manager. "Our enhancements will reduce downtime and deliver the quality products that our customers expect from Viracon."

Viracon employees in Statesboro are eager to return and enjoy the new features of the facility. "There is a lot of excitement about the opportunity to come back and work with the upgraded equipment," adds Farmer. "We have had employees calling, and some have even stopped by to check on progress. I am looking forward to their return, and to demonstrate even further what this team can do."

Viracon’s Statesboro facility will bring its work force back in three phases, concluding in late September. An opening ceremony will be held in early October, with Viracon senior leadership and community leaders in attendance.
