Oreck will keynote the Opening Ceremony of Glass Performance Days Finland on June 17th 2011. The Ambassador will comment upon the new business model encouraging energy efficiencies, greater operational savings while enhancing the human environment in which we live and work.
Ambassador Oreck is the Chair of the League of Green Embassies. The U.S. Embassies in more than 50 countries will be looking towards Ambassador Oreck for leadership on how to go green, therefore Glass Performance Days 2011 - with the main theme of glass and solar in sustainable development - will be an excellent venue for networking, educating and presenting all the energy-efficient and safe solutions that glass industry has to offer.
Ambassador Oreck has a very special relationship with energy and glass in the built environment:
- Of all the major issues facing us today the relationship with energy is paramount and almost everything existing around us seems to revolve around the substance of glass. Glass has been with us for a very long time and if we compare to newer materials such as plastics or composites, steel even, glass seems to have much greater applications and versatility due to its physical properties. Few stories are more compelling than the history of glass. It is quite proper to rank glass as a fundamental component of the world in which we live in and I would even go as far as to consider glass to be one of the top ten human endeavors of all time. Ambassador Oreck says.
GPD is proud to announce that the following speakers will also give remarks in the Opening Ceremony:
* Mr. Russell J. Ebeid, President Guardian Glass Group
* Mr. Ralf Christian, CEO Siemens AG Energy Sector
* Mr. Claus Mertes, Pöyry Energy GmbH
