It is known that Global PV industry is developing by leaps and bounds. The sales of PV products of China accounted for more than 40% of the world’s total amounts in 2010 and it is expected that the production capacity of Chinese mainland and Taiwan will achieve 80% of the world’s total amounts in 2014.
Guangdong province, as the south door of China, relying on the mainland, is one of the important PV manufacturing bases. Strongly promoted by the policy of 2 billion per year will be used to develop strategic emerging industries during the Twelfth Five – Year Plan period, there were several important news spreading widely within the PV industry in the early 2011: in March thin film solar cell production center with 100 billion output was initiated in Dongguan; 100 billion PV projects were located in Zengcheng, Guangzhou; Sanshui prepared to construct large – scale 20 MWP grid PV power plant to create the first complete PV industry chain… It is forecasted by the panel of experts of the industry that enterprises at all levels within the industry chain locating in Guangdong are expected to break through 400 in 2011 and there will be more than 50 large - scale projects…
During formulating policies Guangdong governments focus on three points to support PV industry: the first is aiming at export market and helping corporations get the National Export Credit, the second is working hard to create an appliance market for PV products, the third is serving PV enterprises through organizing industry federations, Commission of Work Standards, etc. It is clear that Guangdong governments put equal emphases on domestic and foreign markets for the development of PV industry, which has not only guaranteed the unobstructed international market and filled the vacancy in European market in that parts of products were transferred because of the decreasing PV subsidies, but also has been improving digestion abilities of PV products in the local market to ensure the PV product supply and demand balance within the province.
Moreover, in the early 2011 there was a good news, excited all PV entrepreneurs, who were prepared to transfer their businesses to Guangdong, that the price of photovoltaic generating electricity would be decreased to lower than ￥0.5/ kilowatt in 2020, which was put forwarded in the Twelfth Five – Year Plan.
The Third Guangzhou International Solar PV Exhibition 2011 (PV Guangzhou2011) represents the dominant development in the south China with its 80% exhibitors getting subsidies. Till April 21st, 2011, the quantity of exhibitors had reached 200, including Yingli Solar, Golden Glass. We initially expected this year booths would break through 1,300, the exhibition areas would amount to 30,000 Sq.m.
PV Guangzhou 2011 especially intensifies more efforts to invite domestic photovoltaic equipment companies among the enterprises at all levels within the industry chain. From the current situation, photovoltaic equipment exhibitors are expected to increase by 54% this year.
Seen from PV Guangzhou, PV industry exhibition has been an obvious economic phenomenon indirectly caused by the expansion of PV enterprises meeting the global PV solar climax.
