On May 9, 2016 in Dublin, Georgia, USA, at a solemn ceremony, in the presence of Mr. J. Preiss-Daimler, the founder of P-D Group and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of JSC Valmieras stikla šķiedra, Mr. A. Schwiontek, the President of the Valmiera Glass Group, the Members of the company’s Management Board and the officials of Laurens County, a time capsule was placed into the foundation of the new Valmiera Glass USA Corp. plant, thus symbolically marking the start of its construction.

The 80 000 square feet plant (7 400 square meters), where glass fiber products of high added value are currently produced, will be expanded by establishing production infrastructure of 389 000 square feet (36 200 square meters) next to it – a modern plant which will enable the expansion of the production of glass fiber and its products in the United States as well as providing additional jobs for the residents of the City of Dublin and the State of Georgia. The start of construction on the plant is planned for June 1, 2016 and will finish by June 2017. The start of manufacturing is planned for October 2017.

The message for future generations put into the capsule was supplemented by Dublin’s local newspaper, the latest informational issue of the Valmiera Glass Group called “Valmiera Glass® News”, a symbolic thread of glass fiber and the local currency of the countries of the Valmiera Glass Group companies – 3 coins symbolizing the Valmiera Glass Group logo which in turn comes from the Preiss-Daimler Group logo.

By Spring 2014, Valmiera Glass Group already announced that it would invest $20 million in the US plant and hire 150 employees. The second phase of the Group’s growth plan now represents the creation of an additional 425 jobs by 2022 and $90 million in investments. Following its expansion, Valmiera Glass USA Corp. will become the largest employer in Laurens County and the leading manufacturing company in East Central Georgia.
