Vitro’s  dedication and strong commitment in developing innovative and top quality  containers continues to give very positive results, as it received the top award  “Prize for Excellence” for three different containers in a recent “WorldStar”  competition as judged by a panel of experts from the packaging industry.  The perfume bottles “Be Magic”, “Irresistible” and “Sexy Red”, all three  manufactured by Vitro’s subsidiary Vidriera México won the awards in the annual  worldwide competition that is sponsored by The World Packaging Organization,  (WPO). “We are deeply honored to once again position Vitro, as well as Mexico, among the best in the world in a highly competitive category that demands excellence at  the highest levels”, commented Alfonso Gómez Palacio, President of Vitro’s Glass Container unit. “Winning two of the top prizes from WPO gives us great pride and satisfaction  considering the level of competition that exists in the world in this category.

This  speaks highly of the quality and innovation we put into our glass containers as  confirmed by industry experts and appreciated by our customers” concluded Mr.  Gómez Palacio.

These recent awards in 2006 are a result of an on-going company effort to excel  in container design for the benefit of our customer base and their markets. These  recent prizes are in addition to our accomplishments in other international  competitions where Vitro received 4 out of a total 12 awards in the annual  competition “Clear Choice Awards” sponsored by The Glass Packaging Institute  (GPI). In addition to these prestigious international awards Vitro won 43 awards  2  in Mexico in different categories (food, beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceutical) in  the annual competition organized by the Mexican Packaging and Container  Association, “AMEE”.

The winners in the 2006 “WorldStar”competition were publicly recognized in a  ceremony held in Poznan, Poland on November 21, 2006. In this particular  competition more than 256 container entries were submitted from 35 different  countries.

The perfume bottle “Be Magic” was developed for the product line Ésika from  Belcorp, while “Irresistible” and “Sexy Red” were jointly produced for the brand  Beuti Control.  Criteria used by the panel of judges in choosing the winners included; protection  and preservation of contents, graphic design, manufacturing quality, materials  used, ingenuity and recycle characteristics.
