Taiwan Glass Industry plans to ramp up its combined capacity for fiber glass yarns in Taiwan and China to 115,000 tons in 2011-2012, up from the current level of 70,000 tons, according to the company.
In Taiwan, the company will de-commission four small furnaces that have been idle since 2008 and build a new large furnace on the existing land that will have an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons of fiber glass yarns compared to 5,000 tons previously. The plant is slated for commercial runs by the end of 2011.
Meanwhile, Taiwan Glass will also establish a new plant in Chengdu, western China with an annual capacity for 30,000 tons of fiber glass yarns. The Chengdu plant is scheduled to enter volume production in 2012, the company said.
