Special Glass Industry was Listed as One of the Key Developing Industries of the 12th Five-Year Plan

Advanced materials, as the foundation of the seven emerging industries, will enter a golden period of rapid growth.  As a fundamental material source of new energy industries and high-tech industries, special glass industry, including two sub-industries, namely, photovoltaic glass industry and ultra-thin sheet glass industry, has been listed as one of the key developing industries of the 12th Five-Year Development Plan of Advanced Materials Industries.The industry will benefit from policy support of the state and follow the transformation trend of national economic development.

This year, a series of relevant documents have been issued to support the development of photovoltaic TCO glass and ultra-thin sheet glass industries.  The 12th Five-Year Development Guidance of Construction Material Industry clearly stated that special attention shall be paid on the development of “deep-processing products like solar glass, ultra-thin glass substrate, etc.” and that special glass industries are mainly located in provinces and regions with intensive national strategical emerging industries and downstream industries. Supports shall be given to various large and medium-sized cities and regions with excellent logistics in building production bases of energy-efficient glass curtain wall for doors and windows, functional glass, competitive ornamental glass and domestic glass.
