Relentless innovation in the field of sustainable glass by Spain's largest high-performance glass manufacturer, Tvitec Glass, has been awarded. Rocalux by Tvitec, the range of architectural glass that transforms into any natural surface for construction, has won the Innovative Product of the Year Award organised annually by the Castilla y León Económica group. In the fifteenth edition of these prestigious awards, which recognise the best entrepreneurs and companies in the largest region of Spain (Castilla and León), the jury was fascinated by the work presented by Tvitec and the huge potential it offers for construction.
The official award announcement justifies the recognition of this innovative glazing material: "The company Tvitec System Glass has developed Rocalux, an innovative textured architectural glass surface that is capable of sustainably reproducing any type of building material. The innovation and digital technology implemented by the company, headed by Javier Prado Ovalle, makes it possible to eliminate the inherent light reflection of glass to give it an optimal matt appearance for opaque enclosures, among other applications".
Through digital printing and by means of an inkjet system and other sophisticated transformation processes, Rocalux can faithfully reproduce any natural construction material finish, especially that of stone and all its derivatives. This minimises the environmental impact generated by the extraction of these resources, while at the same time giving it the advantage of being incorporated into eco-efficient double and triple glazing. The Rocalux by Tvitec range can be manufactured in both flat and curved pieces and in large sizes of up to 12 metres.
Tvitec's Rocalux range is already enjoying significant success in the development of both building façades and interior design, imitating any type of marble, natural stone, quartzite, slate, wood or other finishes. However, the innovative product award will provide an important boost, as Tvitec's Communications Director Roberto Arias notes, for the launch of a 60 million euros investment in a new plant with a surface area of over 100,000 metres. This factory will be responsible for the mass production of the different Rocalux models needed for the national and international markets.
Rocalux can imitate the appearance of natural stone, marble, quartzite, and slate, but also wood and terracotta and a range of other building materials – both for exterior and interior design.
