Pilkington Building Products UK is pleased to announce the launch of its latest product in the Pilkington Optimirror™ Range, Pilkington Optimirror™ OW, a high specification mirror manufactured on Pilkington Optiwhite™ substrate to give a sharper and clearer appearance compared with the standard Pilkington Optimirror™.

Now fully available in the UK & Ireland, Pilkington Optimirror™ OW is manufactured to a superior quality standard and offers over 93% light reflection on a 6 mm thickness. Pilkington Optimirror™ OW offers improved visual clarity, whilst maintaining the excellent level of protection that is standard of the Pilkington Optimirror™ Range.

Manufactured using an environmentally friendly process, Pilkington Optimirror™ OW can be utilised across a wide variety of buildings and applications including bars, restaurants, shopping and leisure centres and can also be effectively used in furniture design. This means Pilkington Optimirror™ OW is suitable for both commercial and residential indoor applications and is easily handled, cut and processed.

The increased visual clarity of Pilkington Optimirror™ OW makes it the perfect match for hi-end commercial and residential applications that require even higher levels of light and image reflection. Unlike more conventional mirrors, the Pilkington Optimirror™ Range does not use copper and lead in its manufacture, allowing higher corrosion resistance and improved protection from chemicals and cleaning products.

Kristian Chalmers, Pilkington Product Manager UK & South Europe Region, said, “We are delighted to be able to extend the Pilkington Optimirror™ Range with a further high quality product. We continue to see innovative uses of mirrors in modern buildings and consumer products making the demand for superior quality and durable mirrors greater than ever. It is our view that customers will find this premium product a beneficial addition to their product portfolio.”

Produced to EN1036 standard, the environmentally friendly manufacturing process produces less waste and ensures future recycling is easier. Pilkington Optimirror™ OW will be initially available in 6 mm thickness in sizes up to 3210 x 2250 with 4 mm thickness being available from January 2011.
