PPG Industries is commemorating the 50th anniversary of Solarban glass, a product line that was launched in 1964 as one of the most advanced lines of solar control, low-emissivity glasses, the company reports.

To mark the gold anniversary of Solarban glass, PPG is hosting a retrospective of modern and historic buildings constructed with Solarban products.Visitors to the PPG Industries booth in Düsseldorf will see various iterations of Solarban glass on display, as well as the projects it has flanked. Highlights include one of the first installations of Solarban glass on the Mutual of Omaha Regional Office Building in Miami—now Colonnade Plaza—which was designed by famed Twin Towers architect Minoru Yamasaki, as well as buildings designed by Philip Johnson, SOM, HOK, Fentress, AC Martin, Paul Rudolph, I.M. Pei and other architectural leaders.

Advances in environmental glass technology associated with PPG and Solarban glass from the 1930s through today also will be featured during the show.
