PPG donates $7,500 to Carnegie Museum of Art

Design.Synergy.” “We are very grateful to PPG for supporting this innovative exhibition,” said Raymund Ryan, Carnegie Museum of Art curator of architecture. “It documents 10 aesthetically refined, energy-efficient and sustainable building projects in Europe and the United States, featuring advances in research and technology as they relate to sustainable environments and design.” The “Ecology.Design.Synergy” exhibit is a collaboration of Behnisch Architekten, an architectural firm, and Transsolar ClimateEngineering, an environmental engineering firm, both of Stuttgart, Germany.It is organized around six key topics – temperature, air, sound, light, material and human scale – with each explored through working methods, previous results and prospects for the future. Ryan said both Behnisch and Transsolar are “at the forefront of excellence” in sustainable environmental design, so visitors will see inventive examples of “green” design projects.



“We are delighted to help fund this exhibit, as it provides great sustainable design examples for visitors and dovetails with PPG’s initiatives regarding ‘green’ products and processes,” said Sue Sloan, executive director, PPG Industries Foundation. “PPG is actively identifying ways to reduce energy intensity, to refine and improve renewable energy sources, and to create environmentally responsible products.”



The exhibit will open Feb. 23 and remain on view through May 25, 2008.
