Pilkington: Brazilian Award for Sir Nigel

Pilkington Chairman Sir Nigel Rudd has been presented with a Personality of the Year award by Brazil in recognition of the Group's record investment in that country.

The Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Brazilian Embassy in London offer two awards each year to the heads of two companies - one British and one Brazilian - who they identify as having made a significant contribution towards furthering trade and investment between the two countries.The presentation ceremony took place at a Gala Dinner at the Dorchester Hotel in London on 26 March.In his acceptance speech Sir Nigel said that Pilkington has been investing in Brazil since 1979 and is currently constructing, through our joint venture company Cebrace, a fourth float line.Work is now well underway on the site at Barra Velha in the southern state of Santa Catarina and the line will open at the end of 2003.
