Date: 25 July 2023
At its NGA Glass Conference: Tacoma, taking place now through Thursday, July 27, the National Glass Association (NGA) announced the addition of a new technical manual, the Frameless Shower Enclosure Design and Installation Manual, to its library of resources.
This comprehensive manual provides guidance and best practices related to frameless shower enclosures and is intended to assist both glass professionals and installers in creating safe, functional and aesthetically pleasing enclosures.
The manual offers a glossary of terms and outlines a basis for expectations regarding watertightness, glass fabrication tolerances and visual quality. It is then organized into three primary sections which elaborate in detail on the design, measurement, and installation of frameless shower enclosures. Visual diagrams depicting design and installation conditions are also included.
"The frameless shower industry has needed a document like the Frameless Shower Enclosure Design and Installation Manual. This groundbreaking manual is set to make a significant impact by outlining the best practices for designing, measuring, and installing frameless shower enclosures,” shares Danny Donahue, task group chair and brand manager, shower hardware at FHC The Glazing Supply Company. “Its purpose is to educate and support glass professionals to ensure safe installations. Moreover, it is a valuable resource for installers facing competitors who may prioritize shortcuts and unsafe practices. In short, this manual is a game changer for the frameless shower industry.”
The Frameless Shower Enclosure Design and Installation Manual is now available for purchase in the NGA Store. The downloadable version is available at the standard price of $134.95 and at the NGA member discounted price of $64.95; the printed version is available at the standard price of $139.95 and at the NGA member discounted price of $69.95, plus shipping & handling.
NGA thanks the Frameless Shower Enclosure Design and Installation Manual task group members who contributed their time and resources for the development of this manual.

ABOUT NGA
Founded in 1948, the National Glass Association (NGA), www.glass.org, combined with the Glass Association of North America (GANA) in 2018 to form the largest trade association serving the architectural glass and metals industry supply chain, including glazing contractors, full-service glass companies, glass fabricators, primary glass manufacturers and suppliers to the industry. It is a technical powerhouse that brings some of the best minds to the table to create technical resources and promote and advocate for glass in buildings. NGA's education and training resources—including MyGlassClass.com and Glazier Apprentice Curriculum—and its official publications Glass Magazine and Window + Door, keep the industry knowledgeable and well informed. NGA also produces the industry's largest annual trade show in the Americas, GlassBuild America, and hosts these conferences: NGA Glass Conferences, Building Envelope Contractors (BEC) Conference, Glazing Executives Forum, and GPAD (Glass Processing Automation Days). In 2023, NGA is celebrating its 75th anniversary and was named Best Nonprofit to Work For. Contributions to The NGA Foundation support training the industry and educating consumers about the many ways glass and glazing contribute to a safe, healthy, sustainable, and inspiring built environment.
