Date: 20 December 2013

Today, the European Commission published a new regulation concerning the determination of the origin of photovoltaic modules.

The new regulation is related to the anti-dumping and anti-subsidy tariffs on Chinese solar modules and cells. The country of production of the solar cell thus determines the origin of the module.

Affected are not only modules consigned from China but also all modules not from China, but with a majority of Chinese cells. The circumvention options for EU tariff measures of Chinese manufacturers and importers will thus be curbed.

The new Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 1357/2013 shall enter into force on 25 December 2013 and is directly applicable in all EU Member States.
