From June 6 through 9, 2016 Expocentre Fairgrounds hosted one of the leading glass industry shows in Russia, its neighbouring countries and Eastern Europe.

It is the 18th edition of the international exhibition for glass products, manufacturing, processing and finishing technology Mir Stekla 2016. The trade show was organized by Expocentre AO and the StekloSouz United National Council of the Glass Industry Enterprises.

The event was supported by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and ran under the auspices of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Mir Stekla is an important project of Russia’s glass industry that annually proves its high standing and provides opportunities for glass manufacturing and application.

Mir Stekla traditionally brings together those who put their efforts and creative energy into development of the glass industry.

The latest achievements in glass manufacturing and processing and the products, which are widely used in other economic sectors, were showcased by 189 exhibitors from 20 countries, among them 64 Russian companies. The number of visitors to the show amounted to 7,980 and the number of visits – about 9,000.

 



 

Welcome address of Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov that was announced at the Mir Stekla 2016 official opening ceremony said “the trade show is an important professional event which largely reflects the present and the future of this high tech sector of economy”.

 

He noted that the Russian glass industry was one of primary industries. The Minister is positive that “the show will promote further development of the industry and international collaboration”.



 

President of StekloSouz Viktor Osipov called the trade show a unique networking platform and a major industry show for manufacturers and customers of glass products.

In his opinion, at the trade show “the industry experts will not only obtain information about R&D achievements but also see them at exhibition stands”.



 

Trade Show

Leading global glass manufacturers occupied the total exhibition space of more than 11,000 sq m in two halls of Pavilion No.2. At their stands they showcased state-of-the-art equipment, glass manufacturing and processing technologies, tools and auxiliary equipment.

The industry experts attended the trade show and viewed glass processing machines and tools made by major international companies, e.g., Glaston, MSC&SGCC, Grenzebach Maschinenbau GmbH, Hegla GmbH, RHI Glass GmbH, Bystronic Glass, Heye International GmbH, Horn Glass Industries AG, Bottero S.P.A., BDF Industries S.P.A., Pneumofore, Mountain Glass Technology Co., LTD., Landglass Technology Co. LTD., Lahti Precision, Sklostroj Turnov CZ s.r.o., Saint Gobain Sefpro, Omco Croatia, Vertech, Vesuvius, Motim Kadko KFT, Nikolaus Sorg, Stara Glass S.P.A., Forma Glas GmbH, Domanovo Production and Trade Plant, and others.

Lots of exhibits were demonstrated in Russia for the first time.

 



 

The accomplishments of the Russian glass industry were shown by Salavatsteklo, Saratovstroysteklo, Caspian Flat Glass, Lisma, Ferro Speciality Materials, HFD House, Vremena Goda, Brinolli, Zenon, Steklocentr, Piramida-Glass, Adem, KAMI Machine Tool Trade Association, Yuta, and others.

The aesthetic centre of the show traditionally was the Art Glass Salon. The Salon demonstrated unusual properties of glass, the most ambitious and creative ideas in interior decoration.

The visitors could see excellent glass products from glassware and interior dйcor items to large-scale pictures, stained glass and mosaic panels.



 

The trade show became a sought-after platform for networking and discussion at different conferences, round tables, seminars and presentations traditionally held at the trade show.

Mir Stekla featured a two-day International Forum on Glass and Modern Technology – the 21st Century. The Forum was organized by the StekloSouz United National Council of the Glass Industry Enterprises and Expocentre AO.

The participants in the associated events evaluated the state of the glass industry and its research under the current conditions and got the most relevant information about the prospects of the industry development.



 

German architect Stefan Robanus, an expert of the Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design (Stuttgart, Germany) attracted great interest making his report on the Latest Trends in Glass Application in Architecture.

The Forum participants were more than 50 speakers from 12 countries. The topics were devoted to all aspects and trends of the modern glass industry and its development prospects up to 2020.

The Presentation Area, where the participants told about their new products and latest developments, ran along with the Forum. New technology solutions were presented by Binder+Co, ThermoGlass OOO and Black Horse OAO.

 



 

The trade show featured a unique exposition of innovative approaches to glass product manufacturing.

The 18th Mir Stekla international exhibition was a meeting point for professionals from all over the world and the industry experts, as well as a business platform to discuss introduction of state-of-the-art technology and manufacture of new kinds of glass products based on the latest technological solutions.

For four days of the show running period the participants reached most of their aims, signed profitable contracts, and provided their companies with new orders.

The next 19th edition of the Mir Stekla international exhibition will run on 5-8 June 2017 at Expocentre Fairgrounds.
