Among all the exhibitors that had come from all over the world, Italian flat and hollow glass companies proved once again to be the perfect partners for the Asian market.
Italian participation was very important, confirmed Dino Fenzi, Honorary President of Gimav: «Now more than ever before, leading Chinese glass producers and processors are relying on Italian products: the need for quality is becoming a primary requisite for the Chinese market and as a result of the high level of technology that Italian companies have achieved, they are proving to be valuable allies rather than suppliers; in fact Chinese companies are unable to source alternatives with the same level of technology locally ».
The 1,300 sq.m corridors at the Made in Italy area were packed with visitors. Gimav Director Renata Gaffo assured: «The official figures have yet to be published but the feeling is that there were more visitors at the Italian stands than at Beijing 2013. China Glass is definitely a meeting place for trade people from all of South East Asia, the Middle East and Oceania, but there were also quite a few people from South America. European attendance was low instead. This has been the case for three years now, showing that Europe is still in the grips of the economic crisis. Our companies are moderately satisfied however, because there are some signs of a pickup ».
