Quieter, more elegant, safer, more energy efficient: Bertram integrates linear technology into the new Allocator XTS    The Bertram developers definitely thought outside of the box when developing their new division system Allocator XTS.

Vertical rather than horizontal: The core of this material handling module is a linear system perpendicular to the conveyor. Bertram will be presenting the advantages of this compact unit, to divide products in the cold end of the container glass production process, at the Glasstec in Düsseldorf from 21st to 24th October 2014. The family company from southern Lower Saxony can be found in Hall 13, Stand E71.

The Allocator XTS is a trend setter in many ways. The quick, compact and energy efficient division system reliably sorts glass packaging, PET bottles, cans or complete trays independent of material, size and shape directly out of the production flow onto an adjacent track. The unit, which can easily be integrated into existing material handling systems, has a linear drive system, which ensures that products are gently and safely pushed onto another track. Guided transfer instead of thrusting: this principle guarantees a much more reliable division process even for upright containers. The fact that containers are pushed across to a parallel belt at a synchronous speed to the transport system guarantees that containers don’t tip or rotate during the transfer.

Bertram’s material handling experts have opened up many further advantages for their customers through the innovative linear technology in the Allocator XTS. There are very little mechanical parts in the system, as the drive system generates a linear movement directly over a magnetic field in the guide rails. The position and speed of the moving parts, called “Movers” can be controlled independently or relative to one another over the IPC. The system works so flexibly that the Allocator XTS Movers are activated individually of each other and only when the upstream recognition system sends a start signal. This need-based operation considerably reduces the energy consumption as well as being much quieter in comparison to constantly rotating chain systems. Furthermore, this system doesn’t have a problem with play in load alternation or tension and has significantly less wear and therefore reduced maintenance requirements compared to mechanical systems with belts, bands or rotating spindles.
