Guardian to Showcase Glass Innovation at Greenbuild “GreenZone”

Date: 15 November 2013

Soon-to-be-released SunGuard SNX 52/23 featured in modular pediatric unit. Guardian Industries is bringing the latest in SunGuard high performance, low-E glass to the 2013 GreenZone at the Greenbuild International Conference & Expo in Philadelphia, Nov. 20-22.

This year’s GreenZone is a state-of-the-art, green certified pediatric patient unit presented by Building Design + Construction magazine.Guardian SunGuard SNX 52/23 is a key component in the sustainable, energy efficient modular facility, located in the atrium outside the exhibit hall E entrance, Broad Street side, on the second floor.

The newest edition to the Guardian SunGuard portfolio of high performance, low-E glazings, SunGuard SNX 52/23, available in Q1 2014, was developed to meet the most stringent energy codes by delivering a solar heat gain coefficient of less than 0.25 without sacrificing appearance.

"The selection of glass is critical to both the success of the pediatric center's energy goals and the comfort of the patients,” explained Chris Dolan, director, Commercial Glass Marketing, Guardian Industries. “Guardian SunGuard SNX 52/23 meets the performance criteria with an unbeatable combination of high light transmission, low solar heat gain and low reflectivity.”

The "Pedia-Pod" is a kid-friendly ambulatory care center designed and constructed to create a comfortable, cheerful environment for children. It showcases a range of finishes, design principles, practices and products that could make it worthy of a LEED Gold application.

Numerous studies have shown that natural light positivetly impacts patient health and healing.* SunGuard SNX 52/23 gives architects and designers a new and improved building option to allow abundant natural light and reduce energy costs, and has a neutral blue tint compared to similar glazings.

SunGuard products provide innovative, leading solutions for appearance, economics and energy efficiency, and are available through an international network of Guardian certified Select Fabricators.

Guardian Select Fabricator Trulite Glass & Aluminum Solutions fabricated the finished insulated glass units using SNX 5223 glass and Guardian Glazier Connection Member Zephyr Aluminum installed the glass into frames in the pediatric structure at GreenZone.
