Gorell Windows & Doors to offer SunClean Self-Cleaning glass from PPG to residential window customers

Based in Indiana, Pa., Gorell will offer PPG's latest glass technology breakthrough in its full range of residential window products, including double-hung, casement, sliding, bow and bay windows, and patio doors and enclosure systems. During the Remodelers' show, Gorell demonstrated windows made with and without SunClean glass.

PPG's self-cleaning glass provides two consumer-valued benefits: windows with the revolutionary glass are easier to clean and stay cleaner, so homeowners can enjoy a cleaner view with fewer hassles. A durable, transparent coating fused into the glass' outer surface helps to break down and loosen dirt, and sheet water so that rain or the light spray of a garden hose can rinse the exterior clean. Additionally, the sheeting action provides minimal spotting for a cleaner appearance.

Gorell has traditionally offered a wide variety of windows featuring PPG's Low-E and tempered glass products, and plans to offer SunClean glass in insulating glass units with Solarban 60 Solar Control Low-E and SunGate 100 Low-E coated glass.

"The use of PPG glass products in our windows has traditionally allowed us to offer safer and more energy efficient windows to our customers," said Dennis Ragan, marketing manager of Gorell Windows & Doors. "Now, we can also help reduce the frequency of exterior window washing by offering SunClean self-cleaning glass. We believe that self-cleaning glass is a feature that homeowners will value and enjoy, especially in conjunction with high performing Low-E and insulating glass options."

According to Patrick J. Kenny, director of marketing for PPG's flat glass products, SunClean glass will be in demand by homeowners and that demand will be passed along to remodelers and new-home builders. According to research conducted by NFO Worldwide, 69 percent of consumers surveyed said they are likely to consider windows with self-cleaning glass when building or remodeling. "Our agreement with Gorell Enterprises Inc. will allow us to meet that demand by offering the product through a major window manufacturer with a large and loyal customer base," Kenny said.
