Glasstec proves a success for Promac

Date: 20 November 2012

As the dust settles on another successful Glasstec, Promac returns from Europe’s largest glass show delighted with the result.

Busy supporting machinery supply partners like For.El, Macotec and Softsolution naming just a few that were showcasing a range of equipment designed specifically for the production and processing of glass, Joe Hague, Group Commercial Director of Promac explains: “At Glasstec this year, we noticed a slight reduction in visitors from the UK and Ireland compared with previous years.  Although we may not have spoken to as many people overall, the enquiry level from those we did speak to was serious.“Nearly all of the serious machinery suppliers had concentrated on improving process with better solutions for triple glazing and process control with either bigger, faster or more accurate machines.  It was clear from the people we spoke to that Quality Control is a huge issue, so solutions like the Quality & Shape Scanner combined with the Eye Guide projector attracted massive interest.  People were amazed to see a concept like the Eye Guide brought to life and the consistent benefits that this quality assurance process can deliver any glass manufacturer.New to the market warm edge spacers also provided a hot topic for debate especially considering the talk of inevitability of triple glazing.
“For the glass processing side, vertical edge grinding was of particular interest. The quick and simple way that the vertical process delivers high specification, quality products in a simple and efficient way proved that vertical CNC machinery with multiple tool options were the order of the day.  Some of our competitors are new to the market with this sort of offering, but Promac through For.El has been offering solutions of this type for many years and our knowledge and experience in this field is second to none.
“Glasstec has generated a number of sales enquiries for the team to work on and over the next few days and weeks we will be busy working hard with our perspective clients.  As always, it proved a worthwhile four days - even though sleep deprivation was high on the agenda.  For Promac, Glasstec 2012 proved better than more recent international shows.”
