Glass for Europe highlights benefits of glass on YouTube

Date: 11 October 2013

In the past, glass was often perceived to be the weak link in buildings. With the advances in high performance glazing over the last quarter of a century, this is no longer the case.

Glass can provide high levels of thermal insulation whilst maximising daylight admission. The benefits of glazing to sustainable buildings are highlighted in a new YouTube video from Glass for Europe, the European trade association of flat glass manufacturers.

Glass is a key element of sustainable building design. Thanks to its unique ability to provide daylight into building and visual connection to the outside world, it fulfils many functions like no other construction materials and these translate into direct benefits for the occupants of buildings, be it in terms of health, happiness, comfort, well-being and productivity.

Supported by independent research that quantifies the benefits of glass, the video also features prominently on the revamped Glass for Europe website. The website has a more interactive and user friendly home page. Statements and position papers on key European legislation and policies feature prominently, addressing current issues such as window energy labelling and recycling.

Visitors to the site are invited to follow Glass for Europe on Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube, to keep up-to-date with the hot topics debated in Brussels.
