Gimav at Mir Stekla: market looking good despite the ups and downs

Date: 17 July 2013

A large number of Gimav companies were present at Mir Stekla in Moscow on 17-20 June. Once again, Gimav organized Italy’s attendance with a collective that hosted 14 of the leading members companies from both the flat and hollow glass sectors.

This market is strategically important for Italian products despite its ups and downs, which posted periods of growth as well as a slowdown in orders especially over the past year. After a truly formidable period, there was a significant slowdown in the demand for hollow glass for domestic products, a sector where numerous small local manufacturers are suffering from the concentrated manufacturing of large-scale international groups. The year 2013 is continuing with some difficulties but with projects already in the pipeline and a special interest in the pharmaceutical industry and technical glass.

Flat glass struck a positive note, mainly because of the rather bubbly construction market at the moment as a result of the seasonal trend (activity is concentrated in the June-October period). Companies at the show were pleased with the turnout, with fewer visitors perhaps, but who were very qualified.
